STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
By 2012,

of excellence through a collaborative process.
PARAMETERS
We will not initiate a new program or service unless it:
*is consistent with our beliefs and contributes to our mission.
*is accompanied by resources and professional development necessary for its effective
implementation.
*projects a favorable return on investment.
*includes a method of measuring its effectiveness.
Nothing will take precedence over the needs of our Pre-K through 12 learners.
STRATEGIES & ACTION PLANS
Communication
We will develop and implement an internal and external communication plan.
*Staff, students, parents and community members understand and embrace the strategic
plan and work collaboratively to achieve the mission.
*Technology is effectively used to enhance and improve communication within the school
district and with the community.
*The public engagement program encourages dialogue with the community, resulting in
input and feedback.
*The comprehensive communication program highlights high expectations, recognizes
student, staff, school and district accomplishments, and unites the community in working
collaboratively to achieve the mission.
Curriculum
We will align our curriculum, instruction and assessment to achieve our mission.
*A cohesive, sequential continuum of K-12 power indicators based on the state academic
content standards are identified at all grade levels and subject areas and are utilized by
teachers to improve student learning.
*An assessment map for each grade level and subject is utilized by faculty to guide
instruction and is available for parent and community review.
*Authentic assessments that incorporate district, state and national standards are utilized
by teachers.
*Teachers collect, analyze and use data to make decisions to improve student learning.
Facilities
We will develop a long-term capital improvement plan.
*A long-term, comprehensive and cost effective solution to the district's educational space
requirements provides stability and sustainability in reaching the mission.
**Immediate instructional space requirements have been addressed.
**Adequate facilities and resources for the district's support service groups enhance the
district's educational programs.
*Broad based understanding; confidence and trust exist among all constituencies for the
long-term solution to the district's educational space requirements.
*A proactive maintenance plan maximizes the operational efficiency of the district's physical
assets.
Human Resources
We will design and implement a program focusing on staff needs to achieve our mission.
*Highly effective faculty and staff are recruited and hired.
*Highly effective faculty and staff are retained.
*Faculty and staff directed and supported by the Riverside Local Schools LPDC engage in
professional development that supports the mission.
Long-Term Financial Planning
We will identify, design and implement a plan to ensure resources are available to achieve our mission.
*All end results and plan of action from other strategic planning action planning teams or
other decision making groups include recommendations for financial implementation based
on thorough analysis of all possible cost and revenue streams.
*The community provides the support necessary to achieve the mission.
*Issues regarding school funding for Ohio and Riverside Local Schools are improved at the
state legislative level. State legislature and local governments are influenced proactively.
*Costs are maintained at optimal operational efficiency.
*Revenue is generated in non-traditional and creative ways.
Technology
We will develop a technology plan that prepares our students to successfully compete globally.
*A technology plan is in place to support the Strategic Plan.
*Technology use is integrated into the curriculum and aligned by grade to optimize and
insure scope and sequence for learning.
*District staff is skilled and proficient in using computers/technology not only in the
classroom but for all aspects of school operations. Staff is proficient in understanding
computer operating systems, file systems, and district applications.
*Better security and parent/community communications of district technology strategies is
provided through utilization of applications district-wide to optimize and streamline district
efficiencies.
