This September marks 75 years since Riverside High School first opened its doors to staff and students.
In September of 1949 a partially completed Riverside High School building of 15 classrooms opened its doors to 374 students in grades 7, 8 and 9. Grades 10 and 11 were added in 1950 and it wasn't until 1952 when Riverside High School had its first graduating class.
Henry LaMuth was the Riverside High School principal and John R. Williams was the Superintendent.
Plans for a gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria got underway in 1951 and a library, laboratories and additional classrooms were added in 1954. Construction began for the John R. Williams side of the building in 1955 and the building was opened in 1956.
Happy 75 years, RHS!
