Grades 3-5 One Book, One School Melridge Reads Program

Students in grades 3-5 attended an assembly to reveal they would be reading the book "Frindle" by Andrew Clements for our One Book, One School Melridge Reads program.

Participating in a school-wide reading program such as “One School One Book” helps build a community of readers and a sense of belonging within our school. We are asking for family participation. Families reading together help children listen better and longer, build bigger vocabularies, and develop a positive attitude about books and learning. Reading professionals recommend that families read aloud to children even when they are able to read by themselves. When an entire school reads together, it generates excitement about reading and being part of a fun program.

Please take a look at the website that was created just for this program. On the website you can see the students' reading schedule, listen to the chapters and view discussion & trivia questions.

We would like to thank Melridge PTO for purchasing a book for each student in grades 3-5.
