On February 25, the 2018 Ohio Teacher of the Year, Jonathan Juravich, visited the District.

Jonathan, who was also a finalist for the 2018 National Teacher of the Year award, has been with the Olentangy Local School District since 2005 and is currently the District's elementary art department chair. For the 2018-19 school year, Jonathan is taking a sabbatical from the classroom to serve as teacher-in-residence at the Ohio Department of Education. In this role, he provides a teacher’s perspective on policy matters while assisting in the development of strategies to elevate the status of the teaching profession in Ohio. He also represents the Department at schools and events throughout the state to promote teacher leadership and expand recognition for Ohio’s exceptional teachers.

While at Riverside High School, Jonathan visited the Beaver Bistro as well as several classrooms to interact with teachers and students. He then visited LaMuth Middle School to engage in discussion with a student panel before finishing his day creating crafts with students at Buckeye Elementary during the school's Kindness Day celebration.

Thank you Jonathan for taking the time to visit Riverside Local Schools!
