The fourth annual Riverside Cares 5K and Kids Fun Run was held on Saturday, May 6, 2017. For the first time in four years, runners braved cool temperatures and rain as they raced along the streets of Painesville Township.

Last year's event:
Riverside teachers Jill Schar and Beth Rhomberg scored first and third overall female. Phil Schar, Jill's husband, and Scott Cavell, son of Riverside teacher Jenny Cavell, scored first and third overall male.

This race is very much a hometown race, as most runners were either Riverside teachers, students, alumni, or friends. Chrissie Harris traveled from Columbus, Ohio to help push her sister, Beth Rhomberg, to a new personal best record! Several parents ran the race while pushing their children in strollers.

Lake County's very own racing legend, Jean Toth, competed in the race, as May 6th was her 80th birthday! Jean is a big supporter of all things Riverside, as several of her grandchildren attended our schools.

In the past three years, Riverside Cares 5K and Kids Fun Run has been able to donate $2000 to various organizations, including the Forbes House, the Greater Cleveland Fisher House, our own Flying R Club, and this year, the United Way of Lake County.
