District Update for 20-21

UPDATED JULY 2

As we continue to plan for the 2020-2021 school year, we will be taking Governor Mike DeWine's recently released guidelines and recommendations into consideration.

We will also continue to work with the Lake County General Health District to ensure that we are following all proper health and safety protocols when planning for the school year.

As always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will communicate plans for the school year with all families in the coming weeks. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding as the COVID-19 health crisis remains a fluid situation.

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Administrators and teachers are hard at work planning for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We are exploring several different options for teaching and learning due to the current uncertainty of what a return to school will look like come August or September.

Like other school districts across the state, we are waiting to receive additional guidance and direction from Ohio Governor Mike Dewine, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education and the Lake County General Health District before finalizing any plans.

In the meantime, we are planning for the best practical protocols for physical distancing as well as proper sanitization and cleaning of our buses, classrooms and buildings. We have also been in contact with several PPE providers to ensure we have all the equipment needed once we do return to school.

While planning for the upcoming school year, it is important we reach out to parents for your input. On Thursday, June 18, parents were emailed a survey. We encourage all parents in the District to take this brief survey, which will be open through Wednesday, June 24.

As you are likely aware by now, the COVID-19 health crisis has been a fluid situation, where information can change rapidly on a day-to-day basis. The guidelines set forth by the state, as well as your feedback from the survey, will allow us to make the best possible decisions for the upcoming school year.

As always, we will continue to put the health and safety of our students and staff first.

Thank you for your time and your patience and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!
