School Lunch In the News - the latest questions answered
Peanut Butter Recall - On October 9, 2012, the USDA provided an update to the Sunland Peanut Butter and other nut butters recall due to potential safety concerns. USDA has indicated some of the Sunland product went to processors for further processed end products. The Office for Child Nutrition, ODE Commodity Food Program has received notification from AdvancePierre Foods that the Commodity Food Program has received some of the potentially affected products.
None of our school kitchens received any of the recalled peanut butter products. After verifying that none of the recalled items had been received into our kitchens, the cafeterias have been instructed that these items containing peanut butter are safe to resume serving.
New USDA meal regulations will be taking place in the 2012-2013 school year. Click HERE to see what it means for the students at Riverside Local Schools!
