8th Grade Exploring Technology
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! I am happy to have you all in my 8th grade technology class this year. This semester is sure to be filled with discovering new things, fun, and of course, lots of learning!

What is expected of you:

… Come to class on time every day and be prepared with your Chromebook fully charged.

… Unless I specifically tell you otherwise, keep your phone, iPod, headphones, and any other devices put away

and be focused and productive in class.

… There is NO food or drink permitted in class other than water which must have a lid the closes tightly.

… Classwork is due when it’s due. Late assignments will result in loss of points.

… Be respectful to each other, and I will do the same.

… All work, projects, assignments, etc. will be communicated, assigned and submitted through Google Classroom

What will we learn?

All kinds of cool stuff! Our course is split into 3 main pieces….

  1. Discovering and exploring various Google Apps (and other cool platforms!)

  2. Brief overview of computer basics and history

  3. Future City project (expect more details later in the semester or check out FutureCity.org)

One of my favorite things about this course is that it is very student centered! There is a good deal of discovery learning and students creating their own knowledge through individual and collaborative effort, rather than lecturing from the front. Students will predominantly work together as groups to navigate portions of the course, especially their Future City project.

What if I’m absent?

That’s the beauty of Google Classroom- just log in and see what you missed! Feel free to talk with me before/after class for further details if needed or check with your group. It is YOUR responsibility to get the information and work you missed.

I am looking forward to working with all of you this semester as it will prove to be full of learning and excitement! Please do not hesitate to contact me if need be. You may call the school office at 440-352-3345 or email at jamie.mrosko@riversideschools.net at anytime.

Let’s make it a great semester! Remember…. FOR SUCCESS, ATTITUDE IS AS IMPORTANT AS ABILITY!
